Police in Peterborough, Ont., are conducting an investigation on the Otonabee River on Thursday morning.
No details have been provided but the Peterborough Police Service says officers, its police drone and members of the OPP’s underwater search and recovery unit will be in the area of Lock 19 of the Trent-Severn Waterway, Lansdowne Street and River Road South.
Police say officers will be in the area for several hours for an investigation that began at 10 a.m.
“There is no threat to public safety,” police stated.
Over the past two weeks, there have been two drownings in the Little Lake and Otonabee River. A man’s body was recovered by OPP divers on July 2 from the river after he disappeared in the water on July 1.
A man died in hospital on June 23 after his body was pulled from Little Lake at nearby Beavermead Park beach.
