Superscript adds Stephen Taylor from Allianz to head up SME distribution

Superscript has announced (2 July 2024) the appointment of Stephen Taylor (pictured) as Head of SME Distribution.

Taylor joins from Allianz, where he has been for 13 years, the last five of which he was Head of Distribution, Digital Trading. Having overseen SME Distribution for one of the leading insurers in the market, Taylor brings a wealth of expertise across underwriting, distribution, partnerships and trading to his new role at Superscript.

Superscript’s mission is to become a world-leading SME insurance provider. Taylor will play a critical role in the next phase of Superscript’s growth towards that ambition, with the responsibility for developing and scaling its SME proposition — working closely with leading insurers and carriers to build out a world-class product set that ensures SME customers are at the heart of the insurance experience across new markets and industries.

Stephen Taylor, Head of SME Distribution at Superscript, said:

“Having worked in SME distribution for many years, I couldn’t fail to notice Superscript’s emergence — like the rest of the industry. They are a business I have long admired and I am convinced they have the vision and technology to become a global leader in this market, by delivering outstanding propositions and service to SME customers. I am overjoyed that I now have the opportunity to be a part of that. With over 19 years in insurance and five years of experience working in the SME market, I look forward to supporting the business in delivering quality products and propositions to their customers over the coming years”.

Christopher Barclay, Chief Commercial Officer at Superscript, said:

“I’m very excited to welcome Stephen to the team for the next stage of Superscript’s journey. Stephen is a perfect piece in the jigsaw for us, as we look to nurture and build our relationships with strategic carriers that want to build a world-class SME distribution function with us. With Stephen’s expertise, both ourselves and our partners benefit — we will refine and develop our product set to become the best in the business, and the carriers can put these products in front of more people with the help of our distributional power”.
