Atom Bank hires two apprentices to commercial team

Atom Bank has appointed two apprentices to its commercial lending team, who will work for the lender for 15 months.

At the end of their apprenticeship, the apprentices will take on roles at Atom Bank as telephone business development managers (BDMs).

Claire Elgey (pictured, right), who is already employed by Atom Bank as a people operations assistant, will join the commercial team as an assistant.

Before this, she worked in the lender’s customer service department for a year-and-a-half.

Jordan Butler (pictured, left) worked in primary education for five years as a learning support assistant.

The formal 15-month apprenticeship will be delivered by Kaplan, and once completed, Elgey and Butler will attain a professional banking certificate from the Chartered Banking Institute.

Once they are telephone BDMs, they will report to Donna Reed, intermediary support team leader.

David Castling, head of intermediary distribution at Atom Bank, said: “We are delighted to welcome Claire and Jordan, who will no doubt be excellent additions to our growing and increasingly busy commercial lending team. We know that delivering exceptional service to our commercial brokers is paramount to our success, and this investment is a clear sign of our commitment to our broker panel and our colleagues.

“Atom Bank is passionate about bringing new talent into the mortgage industry. We will continue to pursue opportunities for both new recruits and existing staff members to meet their potential and deliver the leading service for which Atom Bank is renowned.”

These apprenticeships come as demand for commercial mortgages at Atom Bank increases, and the lender recently passed £1bn in commercial mortgage completions.
