QBE names new general manager for Italy

International insurer QBE has named Davide Anselmo (pictured) as general manager for Italy, subject to regulatory approval.

Based in Milan, Davide Anselmo will join from CNA Hardy, where he was assistant vice president (AVP) Field Operations for Italy.

From September, he will be succeeding Angela Rebecchi, who will be retiring this summer after leading QBE Italy for seven years.

Beatriz Valenti, director of Insurance, Europe commented: “QBE Italy has grown in recent years, which is one of Angela’s many achievements, for which I thank her warmly. And I give an equally warm welcome to Davide, whose profile will be a great asset to lead our strong Italian team as we continue to grow our presence.”

Davide has more than 20 years of experience in insurance, including in underwriting financial lines and managing operations at a country level.

He started in Aviva’s planning and evaluation department before becoming an underwriter at Dual, with a focus on Civil Liability risks: Directors and Officers (D&O) and Professional Indemnity (PI). He then worked as Financial Lines underwriter but also development manager of UIA, an underwriting agency which he helped start up in 2005. Four years later, Davide joined CNA Hardy, managing the whole Professional Indemnity portfolio. He progressed to deputy branch manager and then country manager in 2015. Next, he was promoted to AVP Distribution for Continental Europe and, for the last two years, AVP Field Operations for Italy. In this role, he deployed the specialty strategy, with a focus on PI lines, including Life Sciences and Technology.

“Davide’s experience and skills are a great fit for QBE Italy right now,” continued Beatriz Valenti. “We have strong ambitions for our financial lines and our whole Italian business, which Davide will deliver for our brokers and customers.”
