Arne Slot has joined the plethora of greats in the Premier League, matching feats set by Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte in winning the title in his first season in charge.
It has been a mesmeric league campaign for the Anfield club, and there were jubilant celebrations on Sunday when they got their hands on the Premier League title for the first time in front of their home support.

Liverpool’s previous Premier League-winning campaign under Jürgen Klopp came during the COVID-era, meaning that they celebrated a first title in 30 years in an eerily quiet Anfield.
However, this season has corrected that, and there has been no shortage of excellent performers throughout 2024-25. But, which players have ranked among their brightest lights in the Premier League?
Mohamed Salah
There have been few brighter stars in world football in 2024-25 than Mohamed Salah. A glistening campaign for the Egyptian superstar has seen him score a staggering 29 league goals, marking his highest since the 2017-18 season.
However, his final effort on the final day of the campaign against Crystal Palace ensured that he joined Andy Cole and Alan Shearer in the history books as the player with the most goal involvements in an English top-flight campaign.

As well as winning the Premier League Golden Boot, Salah also picked up the Playmaker Award and the official Premier League Player of the Season. The forward has averaged a goal every 77 minutes this season and has produced 0.48 assists per 90 in the Premier League. Salah may not be out of the conversation when it comes to the awarding of the Ballon d’Or.
Virgil van Dijk
It could be argued that there are few more important players in the Liverpool squad than the leader- Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman became the eleventh Reds captain to get his hands on the English top-flight crown on Sunday, and he has been a powerful force in the defensive areas, contributing to the best defensive record in the Premier League.
Such is his importance that it was plainly obvious to see how far their form dips when he isn’t playing. This was the case when the champions were beaten by Brighton on the penultimate weekend.

Liverpool have kept clean sheets in 38% of their matches when the Dutchman has been on the field, and they have allowed just 0.92 goals per 90. Van Dijk ended the season after winning an average of 2.92 aerial duels per 90, and 4.31 ground duels per match.
Ryan Gravenberch
The 2024-25 season didn’t end as Ryan Gravenberch would have hoped, as the Dutchman was sent off on coronation day against Crystal Palace. However, that is only a small cloud over an otherwise sensational campaign.
For many, Gravenberch has been one of the surprise stories of the season, as he has quickly adapted to playing in a deeper role for the Reds, covering a problem position in the process.

Such has been his influence on the team this season that he picked up the Young Player of the Season award. The 23-year-old has been a strong performer in the middle of the field for Liverpool throughout the season, and he led the competition in terms of interceptions.
Not only that, but he ranked as the most successful player in the Liverpool team in terms of winning back possession, and he ranked second for passes and third for tackles and minutes played, just indicating his importance in the title-winning team.
Alexis Mac Allister
The performances of Alexis Mac Allister have continued to go under the radar, and there is no surprise that he has not played important roles in teams that have won the Premier League title and World Cup in the last three years.
Liverpool’s best midfielder this season has shown his class on the ball throughout the campaign, and it could be argued that he is the man who truly makes Slot’s team tick. In fact, their poor run of results this season, which included the defeat in the EFL Cup final, all came when teams were able to overrun the Argentine international in the middle of the field.

Mac Allister started in 30 of Liverpool’s 38 league matches this season, and he completed a staggering 48.83 passes per 90. His pass completion rate ranks among the best in the league at 87%, and he also formed an important knack for scoring goals, netting five from an xG average of 0.17 per game.
Caoimhín Kelleher
Aside from the four previously mentioned players, there have been no other standout players for Liverpool. However, a special mention should be given to Caoimhín Kelleher, who produced a string of excellent performances at an important stage of the season, which threatened to derail the team’s title challenge.
The news that Alisson would miss two months of the season saw questions asked whether Liverpool had the depth in their squad to win a second Premier League title, but the Irish international stepped up and showed why he is so highly touted with a permanent move away from the club this summer.
Caoimhin Kelleher:

Kelleher kept four clean sheets in ten Premier League starts, and conceded an average of just 1.10 goals per game. While his performances may go under the radar, he was an important presence in the Liverpool goal, which ensured that they were able to keep up with their red-hot start to the campaign.
He may not rank among the top five best players for the club this term, but his performances between October and November could rank as the most important period of the season.
