Top European Competitions in July 2025
July will mostly revolve around the qualifiers. European top tiers such as the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League will kick off in September. However, until then, we’ll see a lot of playoffs ongoing. Make sure to check the games below.
Champions League Qualifiers
The 2025–26 UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds kick off on 8–9 July 2025 (first qualifying round), progressing through the second round (22–23 & 29–30 July). The later stages will be held in August.
A total of 53 teams vie for seven spots in the 36-team league stage: 42 in the Champions Path and 11 in the League Path. While there are not too many high-profile clashes at the beginning of the Qualifiers, don’t forget to check out these matches:

The competition involves 155 clubs across Champions and Main Paths competing for 24 places. Ties are resolved over 180 minutes, with extra time and penalties if necessary. Conference League is a chance for low-ranked teams to deliver their best, and here’s where things are heating up:
- Zira vs Hajduk – July 23
- Cherno More vs Basaksehir – July 24
- Ararat Armenia vs Cluj – July 24
Additional Sports Events to Consider
Apart from football, there are other incredible disciplines taking place in July. Make sure to follow the list below, as these competitions will also dominate in the upcoming month.
Wimbledon 2025
With Carlos Alcaraz securing a memorable Roland Garros trophy against Jannik Sinner, the Spaniard will try for his third consecutive Wimbledon title. At only 22 years old, this will be a huge milestone.
Nevertheless, we shouldn’t write off legend Novak Djokovic. The Serbian, 38, is already in the last years of his career, and Nole will attempt his last shot at the competition.
2025 Tour de France
The 112th Tour de France runs July 5–27, 2025, entirely in France, kicking off in Lille and concluding on the Champs‑Élysées in Paris, covering roughly 3,338 km over 21 stages.
This will be one of the most classic events, including an early 33 km time trial in Caen, summit finishes at Mont Ventoux, Col de la Loze, and La Plagne, plus a mountain TT to Peyragudes in Stage 13.
The favourites? Pogačar, Vingegaard, and Evenepoel will battle through flat sprints, Alpine ascents, and Pyrenean challenges.

Starters will be announced on July 2 and reserves/pitchers on July 6. All‑Star Week also features the Home Run Derby on the 14th and celebrity softball, Futures Game, and more from July 12–15
